On March 19, 2025, Professor Lyu Yonglong from the Xiamen University, Xiamen, the President of the Pacific Science Association (PRC), visited the NSCMB FEB RAS.

During his visit, Prof. Lyu met the administration of the Center. The guest was welcomed by Dr. I.Yu. Dolmatov, a Corresponding Member of RAS, the Director, by Dr. K.A. Lutaenko, the Deputy Director for International Cooperation, and also by Dr. A.V. Boroda, Dr. V.V. Mordukhovich, and Dr. T.Yu. Orlova, the Deputy Directors for Science. Mrs. A.I. Grishina, as a specialist of the International Cooperation Department, was responsible for reception.

Dr. Lutaenko presented a report on the history, goals, objectives, structure, and achievements of the Center. He particularly emphasized the successful history of Russian-Chinese cooperation with several scientific institutions of the PRC.

Prof. Lyu also gave a presentation on the Xiamen University, explained its history, structure and key areas of focus. The Xiamen University is one of the top 20 leading universities in China and one of the China’s first educational institutions to have opened courses for foreign students. In addition to exchanging information, the parties also highlighted possible ways to collaborate in the field of marine biology.

On March 21, the administration of the Center invited Prof. Lyu to the Primorsky Aquarium, a branch of NSCMB FEB RAS. He could see the work of the Shared Research Facility and scientific laboratories, the exhibits, and the shows of marine mammals’ skills.

Prof. Lyu's visit was held in a friendly and mutually respectful atmosphere, which is always characteristic of the cooperation between Russian and Chinese scientists.
