NSCMB FEB RAS and CSIR-NIO sign Memorandum of Understanding

Details

On August 26, 2021, an online ceremony was held to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology FEB RAS and the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Goa, India. The Memorandum formalizes the intentions of the two parties to cooperate in the field of marine biology and marine ecology and conservation in the Indian Ocean region, Pacific and Arctic regions.

International scientific conference "Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Achievements and Development Outlook"

On October 6-8, 2021 the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (the NSCMB FEB RAS) and the Primorsky Aquarium – Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS will jointly hold an international scientific conference in Vladivostok, Russia "Marine Biology in the 21st Century: Achievements and Development Outlook (in Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Academician Alexey V. Zhirmunsky)".

The conference will be held to mark the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation (2021), the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) (https://oceandecade.org/) , the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Marine Biology, now called the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology (2020) (http://www.imb.dvo.ru/index.php/en/we-are-50), and the 5th anniversary of the Primorsky.

Riding the collaboration wave: the Primorsky Aquarium conducts an online meeting with the Lotte World Aquarium

On February 26, the A. V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology and the Primorsky Aquarium carried out an online meeting with their colleagues from the Lotte World Aquarium located in Seoul, the Republic of Korea. It was the first of a series of webinars which are planned to be held with various aquariums across the world.

An exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea was opened at “Primorsky Aquarium”, A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center, Far Eastern Branch, Russi

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. On October 23rd, 2020, “Primorsky Aquarium” – Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS held a solemn ceremony dedicated to this anniversary with opening an exhibition and launching an audio tour of the Aquarium in Korean. The number of tourists from the Republic of Korea to Vladivostok reached 300,000 in 2019, and many of them visited “Primorsky Aquarium”. The scientific relations between NSCMB FEB RAS and the Korean scientific and educational institutions are also getting stronger. Since 2016, research studies have been conducted in a joint laboratory on the basis of NSCMB FEB RAS and the National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea (MABIK). Therefore, the administration of NSCMB FEB RAS and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vladivostok, in view of the anniversary and the established close relations, agreed to organize an exhibition on the platform of “Primorsky Aquarium”, which was supported by the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RF in Vladivostok.

The second webinar (a scientific session) with Indian colleagues from the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Department of Zoology, Presidency College, Chennai and Cochin Base of the Fishery Survey of India was held on 23nd of July, 2020. Participants from the Indian side were Dr. Cathrine Sumathi Manohar, Dr. Mandar Nanajkar, Dr. Maria-Judith B.D. Gonsalves, Dr. Punyasloke Bhaduri, Dr. B Manikandan, Dr. Shishir Shotriya, Dr. Mangesh Uttam Gauns, Dr. Soniya Sukumaran, Dr. Karuppasamy, Dr. Sijo P.
